ARLINGTON, VA; April 12, 2017  -- THE VIETNAM State of war, a new 10-office, 18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, will premiere September 17, 2017, on PBS stations nationwide. The showtime v episodes will air nightly from Sunday, September 17, through Thursday, September 21, and the concluding 5 episodes will air nightly from Dominicus, September 24, through Th, September 28. In an immersive narrative, Burns and Novick tell the epic story of the Vietnam War equally it has never earlier been told on motion-picture show. X years in the making, the serial brings the state of war and the cluttered epoch it encompassed viscerally to life. Written by Geoffrey C. Ward, produced past Sarah Botstein, Novick and Burns, it includes rarely seen, digitally re-mastered archival footage from sources around the globe, photographs taken by some of the most celebrated photojournalists of the xxth century, historic television broadcasts, evocative dwelling house movies, and revelatory audio recordings from within the Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon administrations.

Accompanying the serial will be a companion book — written past Geoffrey C. Ward, with an introduction by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick — that will be published by Alfred A. Knopf, Burns'south longtime publisher, on September 5.
